Honda Recalling 206,000 SUVs in the U.S. Due to Fuel Filler Neck Issue

Honda has announced a recall of approximately 206,000 SUVs in the United States due to a safety concern involving the fuel filler neck. The issue identified is that in the event of a crash, the fuel filler neck can detach from the filler pipe, which could result in gasoline leakage, potentially raising the risk of a fire hazard. This recall affects certain models, including 2023 and 2024 Passports, as well as certain 2023 through 2025 Pilots.

According to information released by Honda and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a flaw in the installation process has been identified as the cause of the incomplete connection between the fuel filler neck and pipe. Despite this issue, Honda has reported only one warranty claim and no recorded incidents of injuries related to this problem from December 2018 to November 2021. It is worth noting that there have been no mentions of any fires caused by this fuel filler neck separation. In response to this recall, Honda dealers will be inspecting the affected SUVs and ensuring a proper connection between the neck tube and the fuel filler pipe, as deemed necessary. Owners of the impacted vehicles will start receiving notifications by mail beginning on January 6th.
