Election of Speaker and Deputy Speakers in the 51st National Assembly

After successfully electing Natalia Kiselova as the Speaker of the 51st National Assembly, proposed by BSP - United Left, Members of Parliament proceeded to vote for the appointment of 7 Deputy Speakers. These Deputy Speakers, representing different political parties, were chosen with a majority of 202 votes in favor and one abstention. Among the elected deputy speakers are individuals from parties such as GERB - SDS, We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB), Vazrazhdane, Alliance for Rights and Freedoms (APS), There is Such a People (ITN), and MECH.

However, DPS - New Beginning made a notable decision not to nominate a deputy for the Assembly. Following Kiselova's election, the deputies from DPS - New Beginning chose to exit the plenary hall and did not participate in the subsequent vote for deputy speakers. This decision adds an element of intrigue to the parliamentary dynamics moving forward.

In response to the unfolding events, Delyan Peevski, leader of DPS - New Beginning, expressed a sense of urgency for the Assembly to work swiftly, hinting at a potential call for new elections. Peevski's statement, "Let's hope they work quickly now, let the roulette wheel spin and we go to the elections," reflects a stance of anticipation and readiness for potential political shifts. Additionally, Peevski conveyed a sense of determination by asserting, "One thing is certain - I, Delyan Peevski, will stop them," suggesting a firm resolve in the midst of evolving political landscapes.
