BJP Leader Defends Machines, NCP Raises Concerns About Voter Confidence

Concerns Raised About Electronic Voting Machines in Maharashtra Elections

Amidst allegations surrounding electronic voting machines (EVMs) in the recent Maharashtra assembly elections, BJP leader Rahul Narwekar has cautioned against questioning constitutional institutions. He believes such actions undermine parliamentary democracy.

"Statements against the functioning of constitutional institutions create doubt about parliamentary democracy," Narwekar stated, urging everyone to refrain from making baseless comments about institutions like the Supreme Court and the Election Commission of India.

His statement comes in response to concerns raised by Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) chief Sharad Pawar. Pawar expressed doubts about the fairness of the election process, citing a lack of voter confidence in the EVMs.

"People have doubts over the election process and voters are not feeling confident," Pawar said at an event in Solapur district. He highlighted the discrepancies in the results, which have caused unease among the electorate.

The Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024 saw a decisive victory for the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, securing 235 seats. However, the concerns regarding EVMs have cast a shadow over the outcome, raising questions about the integrity of the electoral process.
