A Force for Peace and Progress
Under the patronage of Vice President Iliana Iotova, the Presidency of Bulgaria hosted a conference on the crucial role of women in diplomacy. The event highlighted the unique qualities women bring to the table, particularly their innate sense of justice, freedom, and ability to build trust and healthy relationships. These qualities are essential for effective diplomacy, which relies heavily on personal trust and understanding.
Vice President Iotova emphasized her belief in the power of women to make important decisions, including those related to preventing military conflicts. She pointed to the success achieved by Bulgaria, where women's representation in diplomatic missions has increased by 50% in the past 34 years, exceeding the number of men by 5%.
The conference brought together representatives from the diplomatic corps in Bulgaria, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Science, and the scientific community. It was organized by the Specialized Institute of Francophonie in Administration and Management, with Professor Laurence Badel from the Sorbonne as a special guest.
The conference served as a platform to discuss the vital role women play in shaping a more peaceful and prosperous world. It highlighted the need for increased female representation in leadership positions within the diplomatic sphere, recognizing their unique contributions to building trust, fostering dialogue, and promoting peaceful solutions to global challenges.
