Salil Parekh, the CEO of Infosys, recently responded to accusations of a toxic work environment within the company after a former employee's LinkedIn post gained widespread attention. In the post, Bhupendra Vishwakarma, a former Senior System Engineer at Infosys, highlighted various issues he faced during his time at the company, including systemic flaws, regional bias, and an unhealthy work culture that ultimately led to his resignation.
Vishwakarma expressed his frustrations over the lack of financial acknowledgment for his hard work and contributions to the team during his three-year tenure at Infosys. He recounted how despite being the sole breadwinner for his family, he felt disillusioned when his promotion came with added responsibilities but no corresponding increase in salary, leading to a sense of stagnation in his professional growth.
One of the key issues raised by Vishwakarma was the high attrition rate within the company and the management's decision to redistribute workload instead of hiring replacements for the reduced team size. He criticized the management for overburdening employees without providing compensation or recognition, further contributing to a sense of professional dissatisfaction among the staff. Additionally, Vishwakarma highlighted being assigned to a loss-making account, which limited his opportunities for salary hikes and career advancement, ultimately leading to feelings of stagnation and a lack of direction in his career progression.
