A special court in Bengaluru has decided to lengthen the police custody of Prajwal Revanna, a former Member of Parliament, until June 10. This decision comes in light of the sexual harassment charges that have been filed against him. Revanna was apprehended by the Karnataka Police at the Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, in the early hours of Friday last week and was taken into custody by a specific team assigned to investigate the case.
In the ongoing investigation, a special investigation team (SIT) has reached out to a panel of doctors at the Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College and Research Centre in Bengaluru for their expert opinions on Revanna's physical and mental condition. Recently, Revanna was escorted to the A B Vajpayee Medical College Hospital (Bowring Hospital) in central Bengaluru for an examination conducted by a team of six doctors that lasted for over four hours. This thorough examination aims to gather critical information regarding the accused's physical, psychological, and sexual state, potentially serving as valuable evidence in the ongoing rape trials.
Sources from law enforcement agencies have emphasized that the purpose of this examination is not for a potency test, which is not required in rape cases; rather, it is a unique analysis focused on understanding the accused's physical and psychological profile to aid the investigation process further. This development marks a significant step in the legal proceedings against Prajwal Revanna, as investigators diligently work to gather all necessary evidence for the case.
