A Tokyo-based startup, FLH Inc., has developed a weighted sleep mask in collaboration with the Yamagata University Sleep Management Research Center. This innovative product aims to help individuals achieve deeper, more restful naps even when on the go.

Clinical studies conducted at Yamagata University involving student participants demonstrated the effectiveness of the Nelax mask. Compared to conventional sleep masks and no mask conditions, the weighted mask resulted in a higher percentage of non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep, indicating deeper sleep stages.
Professor Yasuki Yamauchi, a sleep expert at Yamagata University, highlights the correlation between the weighted mask and deeper sleep. He believes this product can be a valuable tool for busy individuals seeking to maximize their nap time for improved alertness and well-being.
