Bulgaria's Weather Outlook for Thursday and Friday

On Thursday, expect harsh winter conditions as minimum temperatures will drop to between -5°C and 0°C, with regions in the east reaching as low as -8°C and Sofia experiencing around -3°C. Most of the country will remain overcast, and in the central areas of Northern Bulgaria, light precipitation will fall before midday in the form of rain mixed with snow. The Danube Plain will be brushed by a light easterly wind, while the eastern parts will feel a gentle breeze coming from the south-southwest, pushing daytime highs to between 2°C and 7°C, with Sofia peaking at around 5°C.

In the mountainous regions, a blanket of clouds will persist with light snow settling over the mountains of Western Bulgaria and the Balkan Range. Here, winds will be more robust; a moderate wind is expected from the west, while on higher ground, gusts from the northwest may become temporarily strong. Temperatures at an altitude of 1,200 meters are forecasted to reach about 3°C, dropping to around -3°C at 2,000 meters.

Near the Black Sea coastline, conditions will be slightly milder with temperatures climbing to 5-6°C. The sea water is expected to be cold, between 5°C and 7°C, and the sea itself will show moderate activity with a state of 2 to 3.

Looking ahead to Friday, skies are predicted to clear with only a low chance of any precipitation. A light to moderate wind from the south-southwest will prevail, ushering in warmer conditions. Temperatures will rise markedly to between 12°C and 14°C, although in certain valleys and along the Danube, lower temperatures and reduced visibility may persist until before midday.
