Night Public Transport in Sofia to Remain Operational

In a recent session, the Sofia Municipal Council decided to keep the night public transport running throughout the city, overturning earlier proposals that aimed to cut back on the service. The decision came after heated debates and discussions, with the mayor calling for renewed dialogue on the matter following a vote in January that had favored limited operation of some of the lines.

Councilors representing different political parties presented contrasting views. Some argued that diminishing night services was justified by low usage, while others, including municipal councilor Andrey Zografski, warned that reducing public transport options could force residents to rely more on taxis. Zografski expressed his intention to propose a comprehensive overhaul of the system, aiming for six night routes, one of which would provide a connection to the airport.
