Luxembourg Seizes Record Amount of Cocaine Hidden in Colombian Stone Crusher

Luxembourg law enforcement officials conducted a significant bust by intercepting a stone crusher that had just been delivered. The device, originating from Colombia, was discovered to be hiding a large quantity of cocaine within its three rollers. Forensic teams worked for nearly a week to carefully extract all the hidden packages, which were later documented by police alongside armed officers standing behind the recovered drug packages.

The seizure amounted to just over 889 kilograms of cocaine, with the estimated street value reaching up to 160 million euros. Authorities confirmed that the drugs will be destroyed soon, and the operation, which culminated in the detention of two suspects, is still under active investigation with no further details on those apprehended.

This bust comes amidst a broader context of heightened drug awareness in Europe, with recent studies indicating a surge in cocaine use in France and significant seizures like the nearly five-ton haul at Antwerp port by Belgian authorities. The increase in cocaine production in Colombia, which reached record highs in 2023, further underscores the international dimensions of the drug trafficking network affecting the European market.
