Foxconn Aims for Cooperation, Not Acquisition, with Nissan
Foxconn, the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer and primary assembler of iPhones for Apple, has clarified its intentions regarding the struggling Japanese automaker Nissan.
Chairman Young Liu stated that the company seeks cooperation with Nissan, not acquisition. This comes after Nissan's recent withdrawal from negotiations with rival Honda to form the world's third-largest automaker.
Liu emphasized that purchasing Nissan shares is not their goal, but rather establishing a collaborative partnership. He also mentioned ongoing discussions with French automaker Renault, which holds a significant ownership stake in Nissan, regarding potential collaboration opportunities.
This statement clarifies Foxconn's position and indicates their interest in exploring mutually beneficial partnerships with Nissan and potentially Renault, rather than pursuing an outright acquisition.
