Arab League chief calls for serious international action on Ukraine crisis

Secretary General of the Arab League called for serious international action to end the Ukrainian crisis.

The Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, called for the international community to take action to end the current crisis in Ukraine politically and diplomatically, to restore stability and achieve security for all, in line with international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

Aboul Gheit said in a message to the extraordinary meeting of the Arab League'sArab League's meeting at the level of permanent delegates at the level of Secretary General, and Head of the Office of Secretary General Ambassador Hossam Zaki, that We are aware of the positions of all parties. They are all friendly parties. We believe that it was necessary to increase efforts to reach arrangements that satisfy everyone without resorting to military force because wars have their sad and high costs. Aboul Gheit said that all peace-loving countries and organisations must work quickly to end the escalation and not fuel it, restore dialogue and try to settle the crisis through necessary diplomacy to avoid further deterioration of the situation.

He stressed that the Arab League is following the developments in Ukraine and the serious military and humanitarian consequences with great concern, calling for each party to take responsibility and to focus on sparing civilians from the consequences of the deteriorating security situation.
