Argentina arts and crafts chain to create 40 jobs

An arts and crafts retail chain is about to create three more stores after a rise in profits for the past year.

The site will create 40 new retail jobs, and will be in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, Southend in Essex and Bromborough on Merseyside.

It said its adjusted pre-tax profit for the year to February 2022 was 15 m, up from 13.8 million the previous year.

The company said it was incredibly well placed but the financial year 2023 would be challenging. However, he said that the year ahead will be very challenging, given the significant inflation pressures on our customers and we are beginning to see this impact on market demand in the early part of full-year 2023.

Total revenue increased by 14.8% from 176.9 m in 2021 to 203.1 m in 2022, according to the firm, founded in 1995 and now with more than 100 stores across the UK.

The company had to close for seven weeks in 2021 because of Covid restrictions because it was not considered an essential retailer.

In the year to February 2022, seven new stores and 100 new jobs were created, including openings in Leicester, Rochester in Kent and Boucher Crescent in Northern Ireland.
