Balyan meets Bhartiya Kisan Union president ahead of U.P. polls

Muzaffarnagar Uttar Pradesh India January 17 ANI BJP Lok Sabha MP Sanjeev Balyan met Bhartiya Kisan Union BKU president Naresh Tikait in Sisauli village of Muzaffarnagar ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

The president of Bharatiya Kisan Union BKU Naresh Tikait had undergone a medical procedure a few days ago and Balyan had reached Sisoli to inquire about his health and well-being.

Sanjeev Balyan told ANI today, after his meet, "We are like a family." We keep meeting often. I came here to know about his health. He is recovering well. We had a good meeting. This meeting is important as it is linked to the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections. On Sunday, Tikait appealed for support for the Rashtriya Lok Dal-Samajwadi Party alliance in the upcoming assembly polls.

After a few hours of the meeting, he withdrew his statement and said he is not supporting anyone.

So far, both Samyukt Kisan Morcha, the umbrella body of several farmer unions, and BKU have refrained from promoting any political party.

On January 14, Tikait visited Sisauli and met RLD candidates from the Budhana and Meerapur seats of Muzaffarnagar.

On January 13th, Shiv Sena Upper House MP Sanjay Raut met Rakesh Tikait. Raut said to ANI that it was not a political meeting.

Rakesh Tikait is scheduled to travel on January 21st to Lakhimpur Kheri. He said to reporters on Saturday that he will meet the farmers there and decide on the future course of the farmers' agitation.

The leaders from the political sphere meeting farmer leaders Naresh Tikait and Rakesh Tikait is crucial ahead of assembly polls.
