Bangkok prepares for heavy rain, flooding

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration BMA has taken measures, including draining water out of canals and procuring 2.5 million sandbags to strengthen flood walls, to prepare for heavy rain and possible waterway overflows due to tropical storm Noru, which is expected to hit some north-eastern provinces this Thursday.

The runoffs from the Pasak reservoir in Lop Buri and the Chao Phraya reservoir are the most worrisome aspects of the storm, according to Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, which will put pressure on the eastern part of Bangkok and both sides of the Chao Phraya River, according to their scenario planning.
