Boris Johnson and wife sell south London home for $1.93 million

Boris Johnson and his wife, Carrie, sold their south London residence on Friday for 1.6 million US $1.93 million. The couple purchased the semi-detached Victorian home in 2019 for 1.2 million, according to Land Registry records. It has four bedrooms and three bathrooms over about 2,100 square feet, with a garden in the back.

The property is finished to an excellent standard throughout, with tasteful decor, and retains many characteristics including shutters, wooden floors and low level cast iron radiators, according to the listing with estate agency Davis Gibbs. The rooms are generously proportioned with natural light throughout. The house has three full original floors. The listing shows a double-size reception room with two marble fireplaces, wood floors, built-in book cases, a bay window and doors opening to the rear garden. Access to the garden is also offered by an eat-in kitchen on the same level.

The listing said that the primary bedroom suite overlooks the park, and has fireplaces in both the bathroom and the sleeping area. There are two bedrooms and a bathroom on the third level.

According to The Daily Mail, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson rented out the Camberwell home for at least 10,000 a month, but haven't lived there themselves.

In the last year, the couple rented their upscale farmhouse outside Oxford for 4,250 a month, according to Mansion Global.

Johnson, 58, began his stint as prime minister in 2019 but announced his pending resignation in early July after being embroiled in several scandals, including Partygate, a revelation that he attended parties during a Covid 19 lock-down and later lied about it. He will remain prime minister until a new party leader is named, which is expected to happen in early September.

Agents from Davis Gibbs did not respond immediately to a request for comment.
