British troops to Europe as part of NATO exercise

British officials said that the British military will send some 8,000 troops to Europe as part of a larger allied deployment to deter Russian aggression.

British troops will be serving in the Joint Expeditionary Force, a British-led multinational group created in 2014 in response to Russia's seizure of Crimea from Ukraine.

The Defense ministry of Britain said that tens of thousands of troops from NATO countries and Joint Expeditionary Force will participate in exercises between April and June. In one of the largest shared deployments since the Cold War, the exercises will see our troops join allies and partners across NATO and the Joint Expeditionary Force in a show of solidarity and strength, according to Ben Wallace, British defense secretary.
