CDC revision guides for N 95 masks as cases surge

WASHINGTON, Jan 14, Reuters - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC has revised its guidance on Friday, at www.cdc.org. The agency stopped short of calling for nationwide N 95 use because of the coronaviruses 2019-Ncov prevent-getting sick types-of- masks.html for Americans on masks.

The CDC has clarified in its revised website that people can choose respirators such as N 95 s and KN 95 s, including removing concerns related to supply shortages for N 95 s. It added that Americans should wear the most protective mask that fits well and that you will wear consistently. The CDC said that while masks and respirators provide some level of protection, properly fitted respirators provide the highest level of protection. More Americans have been opting for higher grade protection because of the surge in COVID 19 cases.

The United States reported 1.35 million new coronaviruses on Monday, breaking the global record for daily cases in any country. The CDC said that Omicron is estimated to account for 98.3% of all new cases in the country.
