China says Australian politicians should correct their threat ideology

Senior General Tan Kefei, spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense, speaks at a press conference. A Chinese defense spokesperson said on Thursday that Australian politicians should correct their China threat ideology and avoid further damage to China-Australia military relations.

Some people in Australia have created and spread groundless fear, as a result of the development of another country as a security threat, said Tan Kefei, a spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, at a regular press conference in response to recent statements from some Australian politicians.

Their actions will not only undermine regional security and stability, but they will also compromise their own image, Tan said.

The military cooperation between the United States, Britain and Australia in highly sensitive fields such as nuclear submarines and hypersonic missiles will aggravate the confrontation and challenge peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region, Tan said.

He said that China has serious concerns about this, and that the country always upholds the path of peaceful development and adopts a defense policy that is defensive in nature.
