Credible strike called on Post Office over pay offer

The dispute is based on a pay offer from the Post Office, which the union said was worth 3 per cent for 2022 23 with a one-off lump sum payment of 500, and there is no pay increase for the 2021 -- 22 financial year.

The proposal is far less than the RPI inflation rate of 11.7 per cent, according to the union.

CWU Assistant Secretary Andy Furey said that the senior Post Office leadership has failed and refused to set out a fair and sensible pay agreement, and is the sole cause of the disruption.

Everyone knows that the only solution is to have a fair pay rise that rewards members for their extraordinary efforts in serving the public and delivering a profitable Post Office, while also taking into account the extreme cost of living.

There is money available, but management doesn't want to give workers their fair share.

A Post Office spokesman said that the CWU has called a strike involving supply chain colleagues.

We will have a number of contingency measures in place to minimize any disruption to the Post Office network on that day. The CWU also announced that Crown Post Office workers will be striking on July 11 in a separate pay dispute.
