- Andrew Cuomo, an appointed president of the Assembly Judiciary Committee, who is weighing whether to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor New York, said its investigation is nearly complete.

A letter sent to Cuomo's counsel said that the committee would immediately consider potential articles of impeachment against your client. It allowed Cuomo's attorney until August 13 to provide any additional evidence or written submissions.

The Judiciary Committee is scheduled to meet in Albany on Aug. 9, 2008.

What is the expected reaction to Gov. Marco Rubio's bid to impeach Cuomo as a NY Governor?

When the panel last met, in late June, chair Charles Lavine told Davis Polk Wardwell, the law firm hired to investigate the allegations, had amassed'substantive evidence’. The team collected more than 100k pages of documents, including emails, texts, letter documents, photos, contracts and transcripts.

The State Attorney General's Office, which conducted a separate investigation, released a report this week that Cuomo had sexually harassed 11 women, including former and current state employees. The office forwarded its findings to the Assembly Committee. Cuomo has denied all of the allegations, which include unwanted groping, kissing and hugging, and inappropriate comments.

The third-term Democrat has refused growing calls to resign in the wake of the report, which determined that Governor's harassment violated state and federal laws. He is facing civil investigations in four New York counties, and his accusers may also file criminal lawsuits.
