Delhi Police intensify anti-terror measures for Republic Day

New Delhi India January 23, ANI Following intelligence inputs, Delhi Police has intensified anti-terror measures under 26 parameters since November for the preparation of Republic Day, said Rakesh Asthana, Delhi Police Commissioner on Sunday.

Arrangements for Republic Day began last year after Independence Day celebrations. Delhi is usually under a terror threat, so we have to take extra caution. We are on full alert this year. Asthana said security agencies are coordinating with Delhi Police to keep a check on all anti-terror measures.

The Police Commissioner said that the Delhi Police has currently deployed more than 20,000 personnel, including Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners of Police, Inspectors and Commanders for the Republic Day arrangement. He said that 65 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces CAPF will coordinate with these forces.

There has been increased vehicle checking, asthana said, as well as checking of lodges, tenant, servant and labourer verification.

A counter rogue drone technology is being used to secure air space. Other agencies are involved in securing the airspace, as well as the Delhi Police. He said all agencies are working together with Delhi Police in and around Central Vista.

He informed that apart from Delhi Police's internal meetings, inter-state meetings with anti-terrorism squad chiefs and Crime Investigation Departments' heads have also been conducted.
