Drew Barrymore’s ‘quorn’ is the answer to her chicken cravings

She is a foodie and flexitarian, Drew Barrymore told Yahoo Finance she wants in on the chicken sandwich phenomenon, but there is only one problem, she doesn't eat chicken.

The actress and talk-show host said the solution is Quorn. Barrymore says that the company's Classic ChiQin Cutlet is the answer to her chicken sandwich cravings, as the newly-named Chief Mom Officer for the meat-free brand.

The mission of Quorn is to get more people to eat meat-free, sustainably-produced high-protein foods, including meatless nuggets, ChiQin' cutlets and 'ChiQin' wings, is to make a blend of nutrients from wheat and corn with air and essential minerals.

Barrymore hopes to find people where they are and find out what they need to when it comes to food, with affordability and accessibility in focus in her new role.

Panera entered the race in March and joined the ever-longer list of competitors, including McDonald's MCD Taco Bell YUM KFC, Wendy's WEN and Burger King QSR, among others.

There is still relatively little competition in the meat-free space. KFC YUM announced the debut of Beyond Fried Chicken in January. Other names in the fast casual chain are also gaining attention, such as vegan food chains Slutty Vegan and Project Pollo.

The market is growing quickly and that's why it's growing. The market is expected to expand at a CAGR of 42.1% from 2022 to 2030.

As of now, Quorn foods aren't available in fast food chains, but they are available in the U.S. at Kroger KR Whole Foods AMZN and recently launched in Costco COST in the San Francisco Bay Area and the state of Texas.
