Elon Musk’s empire has been in spotlight

Elon Musk's empire has been in the spotlight over the past several years as his fame and bank account continue to grow.

Musk is noted for his ingenuity, expertise and accomplishments, from Tesla to Solar City to The Boring Company to his new interest in Twitter.

In 2004, Musk became a major investor in Tesla Motors, a company founded by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning.

In 2008, Musk was named chief executive of the electric automaker. Musk is the head of engineering, product design, and global manufacturing of Tesla's cars, battery products and solar energy products. Tesla's mission is to speed up the transition to sustainable energy.

The company has developed a series of sedans, SUVs and trucks starting with Tesla's first electric product, the Roadster sports car.

The company was founded in 2006 by Musk's cousins Peter and Lyndon Rive. In 2016 Tesla acquired SolarCity to become the first vertically integrated energy company in the world.

SolarCity is known to be the top provider of solar power systems. The Solar Roof was developed in 2017 and was considered an affordable energy generation product.

SolarCity will create an integrated solar and battery combination that will provide grid-independent renewable backup power. This will give consumers an advantage against changes to net metering in the future.

As head designer for SpaceX, Musk oversees the production of spacecraft and rockets to venture into Earth's orbit and eventually other planets. SpaceX has made a lot of strides in the rocket business since 2008. In 2008, the Falcon 1 reached orbit as the first privately created liquid fuel rocket.

In 2018, the Falcon Heavy completed its first flight, making it the most powerful operational rocket in the world. Continuing in spacecraft advancement, 2019 saw a demonstration mission with SpaceX's crew-capable version of the Dragon spacecraft.

The aim is to develop Starship, a reusable transportation system that can be used to reach the moon, Mars and beyond.

High-speed broadband internet service will be delivered to areas that have not yet been attainable or have been expensive and unreliable with the creation of Starlink.

This company addresses the transportation system to reduce urban congestion and promote long-distance travel. The Boring Company was created to improve transportation with affordable tunneling technology and an all-electric public transportation system. Musk, a self-described Free-Speech absolutist, has been critical of the platform and CEO Parag Agrawal's approach to free speech.

The billionaire offered to buy April 14 in a deal worth more than $43 billion to take the social media company private.

In response to Musk and his team's accusations, Twitter called the purported termination of the deal invalid and a repudiation of their obligations under the agreement. He accused him of refusing to honor his obligations to Twitter and its stockholders because the deal he signed no longer serves his personal interests.
