Fireworks industry faces price hike ahead of Fourth of July

Today's inflation is a concern for the fireworks industry as well as the fireworks industry.

Celebratory explosives are seeing a major price hike ahead of the Fourth of July, with the overall cost of the industry going up 35%, according to the American Pyrotechnic Association.

On Friday, Minnesota Pyrotechnics owner James Baxter told Fox Friends First that shipping costs alone have gone up almost 400% in some cases.

He said there was a lack of fireworks coming into the country.

It is causing most of the shortages and affecting costs as well.

Fireworks sold in retail outlets should still be available, but inventory is lacking from the professional back end, according to Baxter. By shortening displays or cancelling firework events, the country's Independence Day celebrations will be affected by skyrocketing pricing.

Some shows that have been shooting since, like, 1915, are not able to get product for them, he said.

They are not able to find people to shoot their shows. There are a lot of cancellations here in Minnesota and across the country. Baxter stated that displays won't be as long as they were in the past, even though some shows will go on.

He said that some fireworks displays could be cut down by a significant two to three minutes.

The regulations on importing larger firework shells have caused several issues, according to Baxter.
