Ford, Lincoln report 8.9% drop in September

In September, Ford and Lincoln's U.S. sales fell 8.9% compared to last year, as supply chain issues and inflation continue to affect the automotive industry.

The automaker had 142,644 deliveries for the month, followed by July and August's positive results of 36.6% and 27.7%.

Ford Motor Company's total deliveries for the third quarter was 464,656, which was third behind General Motors' 551,976 and Toyota's 526,017.

Ford has been producing F-Series models without all of their chips installed and parking them in the lots at Kentucky Speedway until the parts are available.

Ford also delivered 10,892 Bronco SUVS, which was more than double the amount of Ranger and Maverick pickups combined, while the compact Bronco Sport accounted for 9,264 sales.

Ford's run continued as the country's second-biggest seller of electric vehicles behind Tesla, as total sales of electric F-150 Lighting, E-Transit van and Mustang Mach-E.

September sales were a mixed bag for the industry and just under flat compared to last year.

We're cautiously optimistic about moving forward. Randy Parker, the chief executive officer of Hyundai Motor North America, said on Monday that there was 11 percent increase in sales and retail sales records for both the month and the third quarter.
