Former PM KP Sharma Oli tests positive for COVID 19

Kathmandu Nepal January 23, ANI Nepal's former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli tested positive for COVID, senior leaders from the opposition CPN-UML confirmed.

The former prime minister and chairman of the opposition Communist Party of Nepal - Unified Marxist Leninist tested positive for COVID 19 after undergoing a test on Saturday, said Bishnu Rijal, Deputy Chief of the Central Publicity Department of the party.

Chairman of our Party CPN UML KP Sharma Oli tested positive for COVID 19 and is resting at Balkot with his spouse Radhika Shakya, Rijal tweeted.

According to the Deputy Chief of Publicity Department of the party, Oli and Shakya underwent a test on Saturday after reporting complications in their health. The RT-PCR test on Saturday was conducted before the test. They don't have major health complications and are doing well at their house under physician guidance, the Rijal told ANI over the phone.

Concerns about the health status of the former Prime Minister who had undergone a renal transplant years ago and is always prone to infections and health complications, has been raised by concerns about the health status of the former prime minister.

Nepal faced two waves of Coronaviruses under his leadership and was criticized for not taking proper measures to curb the infection. Oli made statements about COVID being cured using turmeric powder and consuming it with milk or boiled water during his tenure.

In recent weeks, Oli has been on the run throughout the nation campaigning and holding mass and party meetings despite the raging cases of coronaviruses in the Himalayan nation. The delta variant fueled a high number of deaths and infections under his tenure.
