Former Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis speaks on gas tax

The Senator Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo, spoke about the coast to coast in an interview on Cavuto: Coast to Coast Thursday. President Biden's proposal for a gas tax holiday was slammed by record-high prices at the pump.

SEN. CYNTHIA LUMMIS: That's just a stupid idea. Our gas prices won't go back to their high in 2008 and 2009 because of the $0.18 off of a gallon of gas. This is rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. The Biden administration caused this mess. It started on day one of the Biden administration. My state is the largest net exporter of energy in the United States. What did he do? He took an executive order that would prevent us from drilling for oil and gas on federal lands. He stopped the quarterly lease sales on federal lands, including offshore.

The environmental community has been sued for permits to drill. It is an all-out attack on U.S. production of oil and gas. The price was down because of that. That was what kept our economy going. Our tax structure is strong and that's why it's keeping our tax structure strong. This is a self-inflicted wound by the Biden administration.
