Aug 10 - The U.S. Federal Trade Commission is probing a partnership between Uber and SoftBank-backed GoPuff, On Tuesday, The Information reported https: bit.ly 3 fRGOlH citing two people familiar with the matter and a document.

The deal has come under the scanner for potentially hampering competition in the online alcohol and grocery supply space, a report said. The FTC was also reviewing Drizly's planned acquisition of Uber for $1.1 billion, it added.

The investigation into the GoPuff deal had opened at the end of June, according to the report.

In February Uber agreed to buy Drizly for $1 billion as it sought to make inroads into the liquor delivery market during the pandemic.

The FTC, Uber, Drizly and GoPuff declined to immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.

The new FBI director said that while the two probes are separate, an FTC team in New York manages both of the investigations since deals involve the same markets, the report said.
