GE names Larry Culp as CEO of aviation business

Larry Culp, the chairman and CEO of General Electric, is taking over the top executive position in the company's aviation business.

Culp arranged the dissolution of the conglomerate in which it would spin off its health care and energy divisions eight months ago, with the aviation wing under the control of GE.

GE said Monday that the current CEO, John Slattery, will be executive vice president and chief commercial officer of the business.

On Monday, GE said that Russell Stokes, who is currently Senior Vice President of GE and President CEO of GE Aviation Services, is being named CEO of Commercial Engines and Services.

Shane Wright is retiring, chief financial officer and chief operating officer of the aviation business. Wright will be replaced by Rahul Ghai, who is currently Executive Vice President and CFO of Otis Worldwide.

GE laid out a timetable in which it would complete the spinoff of its healthcare sector by early next year, and it will have a power division in 2024.
