BERLIN, Aug. 11 - On Tuesday, German police arrested a Russian man who worked at the British Embassy in Berlin on suspicion of passing documents to the British intelligence services in exchange for cash, prosecutors said.

The German prosecutors said in a statement that the apartment and office of the man named only as David S. had been searched and that he would be brought to an investigating judge later on Wednesday morning.

They said the arrest was the result of a joint investigation by German and British authorities.
