Below is a list of videos from our team. Consumer-protection authorities in Europe's top economy are being inundated by complaints, so you can try refreshing your browser, or While so-called shrinkflation - where the cost of a product stays the same even though its size declines. The Hamburg branch received more than 100 in the past two weeks, a record that is three to five times higher than the norm. The group's bluff packages have 14 per cent inflation for gummy bears and 20 per cent for potato chips. A 25 per cent price jump for some margarines is an exceptional step in difficult times due to dramatic cost increases across the supply chain, including raw materials, according to manufacturers. Food prices are the biggest driver of German inflation after energy, with an annual pace of 14 per cent in July, almost twice as much as the overall index. After more than two years of Pandemic disruptions, the budgets of low-income households have dwindling cash buffers.

According to Armin Valet, a consumer-protection specialist at the consumer-protection authority in Hamburg, what we are seeing is just the beginning. He can't think of a product group without examples. Between selling goods in old packaging and planning, producing and delivering new ones, preparations for covert price increases take about half a year, he said. Experience suggests that this shrinkflation scam will be heavily used in the fall, winter and early next year.
