Gucci, Adidas umbrella sells for 11,100 yuan in China

A top western brands Gucci and Adidas set to sell for 11,100 yuan 1,329 in China is causing an outcry for not keeping out of the rain.

It comes as Gucci's website says it is not waterproof and is meant for sun protection or decorative use.

A hashtag on Weibo, which is selling the collaboration umbrella for 11,100 yuan, is not waterproof and has so far had more than 140 million views.

A user wrote that people who are willing to pay use luxury goods to show what they are worth. They don't care about practicality. The new collection by luxury brand Gucci and sportswear giant Adidas is set to be released on 7 June.

According to a Gucci spokesman, the product was not recommended for use as an everyday umbrella and is suitable for use as a daily accessory. Bain said that China will become the biggest luxury goods market within the next three years.
