Haryana govt. opposes contempt plea against Haryana government

New Delhi India January 8 ANI A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court by Surjit Singh Yadav, Vice President of Hindu Sena, opposing the contempt petition that sought action against officers of the Haryana government for their alleged inaction against the disruptions of namaz prayers at open places in Gurugram.

Yadav, filing intervention, also sought directions on refraining from offering namaz on public property in the districts of Gurugram, Haryana.

The judgement of this Court in the case of Tehseen S Poonawalla is the law of the land and each citizen in their own caste and religion have to follow. The application stated that they can't create a situation that sets out a platform for others to lodge a protest in the grab of offering namaz prayer.

It said that the Indian society is a society of multi-religious people and therefore, members of the community have to follow the principle of self-restraint to maintain law and order situation. The applicant has noticed that a large number of people in a single place show religious supremacy creates a situation for law and order problems. The application states that the Petitioner and his associates must impose self restraint on public land or public property for offering namaz prayers.

The contempt petition was filed by former Rajya Sabha MP Mohammad Adeeb, saying that Haryana authorities have failed to comply with the directions issued by the Supreme Court in the case, where it issued a slew of directions in 2018 to control and prevent the growing number of hate crimes, including mob violence and lynching.

The contempt plea said that there has been a constant rise in incidents relating to Friday prayers offered by Muslims at the behest of some identifiable hooligans who falsely portray themselves in the name of religion to create an atmosphere of hatred and prejudice against one community across the city.
