Hong Kong Chief Executive-elect meets with LegCo members in batches

ANDY CHONG CHINA DAILY HONG KONG Chief Executive-elect John Lee Ka-chiuLee Ka-chiu met with Legislative Council LegCo members in batches on Monday to gauge their views on the new-term government and to facilitate mutual communication and understanding.

According to a government statement released on Monday evening, Lee met with legislators from the Business and Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong, G 19 and the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong.

Lee said he would lead the new-term government to improve communication with LegCo members, taking heed of their views on policy formulation and the introduction of bills through multiple channels. He said that he looked forward to positive exchanges and interactions with the LegCo.

Lee thanked the LegCo House Committee for approving the setting up of a subcommittee to study the proposed reorganization of the government structure on May 13, saying that it will help the LegCo's deliberation and scrutiny of the proposal.

The statement says that the chief executive-elect will continue to meet with other LegCo members in batches.
