WASHINGTON, Oct 13 Reuters - On Tuesday evening, the Chief of International Monetary Fund met Martin Guzman and they agreed to continue working together to develop a credible IMF loan program.
“We will continue to pursue that dialogue, Georgieva told reporters at the annual meetings of IMF and World Bank.
The IMF staff continued to work to find a way for Argentina to support itself by encouraging strong policies that would stimulate private sector-led growth and create more jobs.
Georgieva said the discussions were focused on developing a program that would be credible and helpful to the people of Argentina. The IMF and Argentina have been negotiating for months about a new Extended Fund Facility program to deal with the South American country's $45 billion debt to the Fund.
Argentina, with 0.67% of the IMF's current quota resources, would get about $4.4 billion worth of the Fund's newly created special drawing rights or emergency reserves.
