Iranian President to visit Oman to discuss economic, diplomatic relations

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will visit the Omani capital Muscat on Monday to talk about bilateral economic, political and cultural relations at the invitation of Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, the Iranian president's website said on Saturday.

Raisi is scheduled to meet the Sultan of Oman, sign cooperation documents, meet Iranians residing in the Arab state, as well as Omani traders and businessmen during the one-day visit, according to the statement.

Raisi will take office as Iranian president in August 2021 and will be his first trip to Oman.

Before Raisi's visit, a delegation of 50 Iranian traders and businessmen visited Oman to lay the groundwork for the strengthening of bilateral economic and trade relations.

Since taking office, Raisi has always highlighted the need for trade and economic cooperation with Arab neighbors.
