Italy has registered 130,233 deaths linked to COVID - 19 since it emerged in February last year, the eighth-highest toll in Europe after Britain and the second highest death in the world. The country has reported 4.63 million cases to date.
Patients in intensive care with COVID - 19 - not including those in hospital - matched on Friday 3,989 on Friday, down from 4,018 a day earlier.
There were 34 new admissions into intensive care units, up from 30 on Thursday. The total number of intensive care patients fell from a previous 531 to 525 in total.
Some 284,579 tests for COVID -19 were carried out in the past day, when compared with a previous 306,267, said health ministry.
