Kumamoto Prefectural govt unveils 29 new illustrations, logos featuring mascot

KUMAMOTO - The Kumamoto Prefectural GovernmentKumamoto Prefectural Government has unveiled 29 new illustrations and logos featuring the prefecture's rotund bear mascot Kumamon.

Kumamon's designs are at a campfire, as camping has become popular in recent years due to the coronaviruses epidemic. Anyone can use the images for products and other purposes.

The creative director of Kumamon, Manabu Mizuno, designed the recent designs. The total number of Kumamon illustrations and logos has reached 274. Up to 38,000 applications to use Kumamon from outside Japan had been approved by the end of March 2022, according to the prefectural government.

The new illustrations show Kumamon enjoying sports such as bouldering and stand-up paddleboarding, as well as the mascot with six local flowers, a tatami mat made of Kumamoto's signature soft rush, or a skylark, the prefectural bird.

There were two logos added to the collection, including one that reads Go To Kumamoto. Applications to use the illustrations and logos can be made on Kumamon's official website at https: kumamon-official.
