Lithuania to visit Taiwan, to boost transport cooperation

In Taiwan's capital, Taipei, the deputy minister will meet with Taiwanese deputy ministers of transport and communications, economy and foreign affairs. There will be much attention given to enhancing cooperation in aviation, maritime transport, electric vehicles and the production of their components, as well as to electric vehicle charging infrastructure and the potential of manufacturing energy storage equipment.

Representatives of the Klaip da State Seaport Authority, V jo projektai, Altas Auto and Elinta Robotics are also part of the delegation.

The Lithuanian delegation will visit Taichung offshore windfarm, electric vehicle and electric bus factories.

A Memorandum of Understanding will be signed in Hsinchu city between Lithuania's electric bus manufacturer UAB V jo projektai and Taiwan's largest passenger and cargo vehicle manufacturer Tangeng Advanced Vehicles Co.

There will be a discussion of passenger and cargo transportation opportunities between Lithuania and Taiwan with representatives from China Airlines.

The director general of Klaip da State Seaport Authority, Algis Latakas, and representatives of Taiwan International Ports Corporation will discuss diversification of Klaip da seaport activities, the search of new markets and international waterway routes.

Lithuania plans to open a trade office in Taipei in September. It is hoped that the opening of the commercial representation will be a positive factor in the bilateral cooperation in the areas of business, economy, research and development, culture and transport.
