Man arrested for using fake Malaysian driving licence to apply for multiple journey pass

A 41-year-old man was arrested at Woodlands checkpoint on Friday, August 12, after he used a fake Malaysian driving licence to apply for a pass.

The Singapore Police Force SPF said in a news release that a man who tried to apply for a multiple journey pass on Aug 12 tried to use the forged document to apply for a multiple journey pass.

An immigration checkpoints Authority ICA officer detected a forged driving licence during the enrolment process for the pass, according to preliminary investigations.

SPF conducted investigations in collaboration with the ICA and the man was arrested by officers from the Woodlands Police Division on the same day.

The man will be charged with using a fake document as a genuine document in court on Saturday. If found guilty, he faces up to four years in prison, a fine, or both.

SPF said that the police will take tough enforcement action against those who attempt to enter Singapore illegally.
