Melbourne Royal Show rollercoaster ride reopens after woman was hit

Two days after a woman was struck by the ride and suffered critical injuries, a rollercoaster ride at the Melbourne Royal Show has been reopened.

Shylah Rodden, 26, was hit while trying to retrieve her phone from the ride's tracks, according to police.

The ride was shut down after Ms Rodden was injured at the showgrounds in Ascot Vale about 5: 45 pm Sunday.

The Melbourne Royal Show said on Tuesday that WorkSafe had deemed the ride safe to reopen.

Following the tragic accident at the Rebel Coaster ride on Sunday afternoon at the Melbourne Royal Show, WorkSafe has finalised an inspection report which advising the ride is safe and may be reopened from today, the statement said.

The statement said that the safety and wellbeing of visitors continued to be the number one priority of the organisation. Strict safety protocols are upheld in line with Victorian WorkSafe regulations.

All of the vehicles on site have passed stringent safety inspections and have passed all the required safety documentation.
