Mexico — September 17 – Reuters - The economy of MEXICO City expanded by 6.8% in August compared to the same period last year, while the country continued to recover from a national slump induced by coronavirus pandemic, a preliminary estimate from the National Statistics Agency INEGI showed on Friday.
A breakdown of the agency's initial figures showed that secondary activities, which include manufacturing, increased from August 2020 by 4.1%, while tertiary activities, which include the assembly sector, were up by 8.3%.
2 economy was grew by some 9.9% year on year, according to preliminary estimates. A more detailed breakdown of economic activity in July is due to be published on 27 Sept, and on 25 August for August.
