Mysterious Motorola flagship: what you need to know

Washington State January 15 ANI A new leak details a mysterious Motorola flagship codenamed 'Frontier' which is supposedly already in the works.

It comes hot on the heels of the recently-announced Edge X 30 and seems to share some of its specs, while also sounding quite impressive in certain aspects, according to GSM Arena.

The leak describes a 6.67 inch curved FHD 144 Hz OLED display, essentially what the Edge X 30 has alongside a flagship Snapdragon 8 chipset.

This might not be the same current Qualcomm top dog Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, but rather a similar chip that is made on TSMC's 4 nm process instead of Samsung's.

This is not the first time that there is news of a potential move, allegedly motivated by production yield issues on Samsung's end.

The source even quoted an SM 8475 model number for the new chip and goes as far as to suggest it will be called the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

There isn't yet a formal indication of an entirely new chip. The Frontier is reportedly pairing that chip with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage or 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.

The Motorola Frontier is also said to use Samsung's 200 MP S 5 KHP 1 sensor as the main camera, along a 50 MP Samsung S 5 KJN 1 SQ 03 JN 1 ultrawide snapper and a 12 MP IMX 663 telephoto.

On the front, the Frontier could borrow the 60 MP OmniVision OV 60 A sensor as found in the Edge X 30 - another similarity.
