Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal explains why drivers cancel rides

Ride-hailing company Ola's CEO Bhavish Aggarwal might have some answers to a question asked by riders: Why do drivers cancel their Ola ride?

Aggarwal said that Ola has now introduced two important features for its drivers' app. We are taking steps to fix this industry wide issue. Before accepting a ride, Ola drivers will see approx drop location payment mode. He said that having drivers enabled is key to reducing cancellations.

Once a ride is booked, Ola drivers will be able to see the customer's approximate drop location, as well as the mode of payment chosen by the rider before they accept the ride. The reason for ride cancellations is that either the driver is unwilling to go to the drop location or the payment mode is that the cash, card or UPI chosen by the customer is not preferred by the driver.

Aggarwal hopes that the industry-wide issue of ride cancellation will be reduced with the addition of new features on Ola drivers' app.

Ola, which has recently begun the deliveries of its much-awaited S 1 and S 1 Pro electric scooters in India, had recently raised $500 million via a term loan B TLB from marquee international institutional investors. The proposed loan issuance received a huge response from investors with interest and commitment of approximately 1.5 billion dollars.
