Poll: what we know about Scotland budget

This may include adverts from us and 3rd parties based on our understanding. The cash injection was the largest grant to Scotland in decades, according to Chancellor Rishi Sunak, who said Scotland's new budget showed the indisputable fiscal benefit of being part of the United Kingdom. The Scottish Government will receive 126 per person, compared to 100 per person in England.

On October 27 he announced: Through the Barnett formula, today s decisions increase Scottish Government funding by an average of 4.6 billion dollars a year, Welsh Government funding by 2.5 billion and 1.6 billion for the Northern Ireland ExecutiveIreland Executive. The largest grant for the devolved administrations is being granted since the 1998 devolution settlements. Over time we will ramp up funding so that total UK funding will match EU receipts, which is averaging around 1.5 billion a year.

Today demonstrates the indisputable fiscal benefit of being part of the United Kingdom. This is a fact that we are tied together by more than transactional benefit. It is our collective history, our culture, and our security. We are a family. We will always be. Do you think Sunak has made the right decision? Can't see the poll below?

Despite the continuing effects of the Pandemic, the SNP finance minister Kate Forbes is about to unveil her Budget breakdown against a challenging fiscal backdrop. She rebuffed Mr Sunak's claims of a generous cash allotment from Westminster and instead argued that the UK Government had reduced Scotland's day-to- day spending by removing ongoing Covid funding. Should Scotland expect to receive continued Covid recovery funds in full during 2022? Have your say in the comments section.

Simon Clarke, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, told journalists he was looking forward to working with the devolved administrations but warned that they should behave as grown-ups. Clarke said: I am a British minister, I have a perfectly good relationship with Kate Forbes and I have been really pleased with the progress we have been able to make. He said we would encourage the fullest possible dialogues about what we are doing and what they are doing. This should be a process between grown-up administrations who want the same thing, in this case, the right outcomes for the people of Scotland.
