Postal e-home COVID tests launched online

Americans can order free at-home COVID tests from the USPS website under the Biden Administration's purchase of 500 million tests last month to help with the recent Omicron surge.

Where contact and shipping information will need to be provided, the government says.

The site went live on Tuesday, a day earlier than the promised Wednesday release date.

Each home is eligible for four free at-home rapid antigen COVID 19 tests from the site, with a limit of one order per household.

The tests will typically ship in seven to 12 days, with orders starting in late January.

There are no shipping charges and a credit card or debit card is not required to order the tests.

All orders will go through the USPS, and tests will be available to those who live in the U.S. and its territories.

It is recommended that the COVID tests be ordered now so that consumers have them in case of a possible COVID infection.

If a COVID test is needed now, other testing resources are recommended due to the wait time of mailing the free at-home tests.
