Reliance Jio will launch 5 G services in select cities today. The reason behind the launch of 5 G services on the day of Dussehra was explained by Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani, who said Dussehra symbolizes triumph over hurdles caused by legacy technologies such as 2 G, with the knowledge and wisdom that Jio True 5 G will enable. Jio 5 G will be launched in four cities today, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Varanasi. The invite offer will be rolled out to invited customers who will be able to use the True 5 G services and provide user experience feedback.
The company stated that it aims to speed up India's transformation into a digital society. 5 G will improve lives and provide more income, it said. 5 G services will transform education, healthcare, agriculture, skill development, small, medium and large enterprises, IoT, smart homes and gaming.
Akash Ambani said that Jio will be the most advanced 5 G network built for every Indian by Indians.
How can I get 5 G services rolled out by Jio?
The Jio True 5 G Welcome Offer is only available in the four above mentioned cities by invitation. The invited Jio welcome offer customers will be upgraded automatically to 5 G without having to change their existing Jio SIM or 5 G handset.
The company said that it is working with all handset makers to enable their 5 G handsets to work seamlessly with Reliance Jio 5 G.
Reliance Jio said all other cities will be covered as and when they get ready. Users from other cities will be able to use 5 G when the network coverage is substantially complete to offer the best coverage and user experience, the company said.
5 G can't be an exclusive service for the privileged few or those in our largest cities. It must be available to every citizen, every home, and every business in India.
