Second instalment of e-vouchers disbursed

A customer pays his bill with WeChat Pay in Hong Kong. The second installment of consumption vouchers under Phase II has been disbursed to about 6.36 million eligible people on Saturday.

A spokesman for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region said that the e-vouchers were disbursed via six stored value facility operators AlipayHK, BoC Pay, Octopus, PayMe from HSBC, Tap Go and WeChat Pay HK.

In August, eligible residents who received vouchers worth HK $5,000 received the first HK $2,000 voucher. If they use Octopus to collect the voucher, the second voucher of HK $2,000 will be disbursed today, the spokesman said.

The second voucher of HK $3,000 is going to be given to eligible persons who collect the voucher using the other five e-wallets, the spokesman said.

The spokesman said that the eligible persons who collect the voucher through Octopus have been disbursed with a total of HK $4,000 vouchers, with the first voucher disbursed in early August and the second voucher disbursed on Saturday. The remaining HK $1,000 voucher will be disbursed on December 16 at the earliest if the total eligible spending has reached HK $4,000 by the end of November, the spokesman said.

The last HK $1,000 voucher can be collected by tapping the card on April 16, so they have to reach HK $4,000 by March 31, 2023 the latest.

The voucher received in early August and the voucher received on Saturday will expire on February 28, 2023, and will expire on February 28, 2023 for people who collect the voucher through the other five e wallets.

The vouchers can be used according to their consumption pattern before the expiry date, according to the spokesman.
