Seventy schools to get new principals in 2023

Seventy schools will get new principals in 2023 as part of the Ministry of Education's MOE annual reshuffling exercise, the ministry said on Thursday. Seventy schools are part of the exercise's annual reshuffling exercise and will start next year:

Heng Yew Seng will replace Manogaran Suppiah at Anderson Serangoon Junior College. The latter was previously the principal of Serangoon Junior College until the two institutions merged in 2019 Heng is currently a director of the Curriculum Policy Office and 21 st Century Competencies at MOE.

Kevin Ang Keng Jin will take over the post that has been held by Dr Hang Kim Hoo since 2019. Ang is currently a principal at Bukit View Secondary School.

Mr Sin Kim Ho will replace Miss Yoong Nyok Ke Pamela, the current Principal since 2019 at Tampines Meridian Junior College. Mr Sin is currently the divisional director with MOE's curriculum planning development division 1.

It added that this is an important career milestone for the 26 newly-appointed principals as they assume greater responsibilities as leaders in education.

It is an affirmation of MOE s confidence in their ability to lead and guide our teachers, staff and students in schools for the 44 Principals and HQ officers who will be assuming new Principalship appointments. On December 29 at the Appointment and Appreciation Ceremony for Principals, where Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing will be guest-of- honour, the principals will receive their letters of appointment on December 29.

MOE said that the process of appointing and rotating principals allows schools to benefit from new perspectives, and enables experienced principals to share best practices across schools.

Our principals will have the chance to take on new challenges and strengthen the work of the schools they are appointed to lead.
